About

I am often asked where the name Fiddlehead came from. Fiddlehead Theatre Company is named after the fiddlehead fern. At a dinner party one night many years ago I got engaged in a discussion with a theater friend about fiddleheads. He had eaten them for dinner a few nights before and as well as have a delicious asparagus like flavor, we remarked on how they were fantastical ferns, found in fairy tales, symbolic of imagination. We also spoke of how the plant unfurls as it matures reflecting the growing and flourishing of a theater company. Now after 16 years the name Fiddlehead represents imagination, growth, beauty and creation and is still without a doubt the perfect name for our theater company.
