Letter: Entertainment Awaits at the Fiddlehead Theatre
by Mary Capobianco
GATEHOUSE MEDIA
A night of pure entertainment is in store for anyone who loves music and drama when the Fiddlehead Theatre, located directly across from the gazebo in our town center, presents the ever popular, internationally-acclaimed musical “Fiddler on the Roof” this month.
The musicals and plays presented there are extremely professional and in no way take a backseat to similar productions advertised in the Boston Theater District. Not only are the ticket prices affordable, but the free parking, in and around the area, is an added attraction.
The Fiddlehead Theatre is a very successful non-profit organization that brings fantastic shows to our Norwood area. Besides the aforementioned “Fiddler on the Roof,” the current season will feature varied presentations, such as “Romeo and Juliet,” “Oliver,” Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Grand Night for Singing,” “The Odd Couple,” and “Funny Girl.”
If you have not experienced one of the great shows that recently played on Fiddlehead’s stage, like “Beauty and the Beast,” “My Fair Lady,” “The King and I,” Gershwin’s “Crazy for You,” and “Singing in the Rain,” among others, you’re in for a treat this season.
Why not find out for yourself what I’m talking about? I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

IRNE Awards Reach South Shore Theatre Talent
by Kyle Sutton
PATRIOT LEDGER
From the moment Bridget Beirne began her audition for the role of Elize Doolittle in "My Fair Lady," David Costa and the Fiddlehead Theatre Company knew they had something special going. To then have Brendan McNabb onboard as the arrogant Henry Higgins only added to the magic. "Their chemistry was just undeniable," said Costa, marketing and casting director of the theater in Norwood. "We were just totally blessed with the two of them." The Fiddlehead Theatre is one of more than 30 companies in the Boston area to be nominated by the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) for excellence in theater awards for this past season. Their October production of "My Fair Lady," the company's first since going professional, received four nominations, including best actor in a musical (McNabb), best actress in a musical (Beirne), best costumes (Stacey Stephens) and overall best musical. "Making that decision really made casting 'My Fair Lady' very easy," Costa said.

The Fiddlehead Theatre in Norwood was twice honored at the 11th annual Independent Reviewers of New England awards Monday night in Boston, an event that also honored the late actor Phillip Patrone of Quincy.
For his role as Henry Higgins in Fiddlehead's production of "My Fair Lady," as well as his role in the SpeakEasy Stage Company's "Parade," Brendan McNab won for the best actor in a small theater musical. Stacey Stephens took home the best costume award for the same two productions. He jokingly thanked himself for "letting Bridget (Beirne, who played Eliza Doolittle) have the big hat and basket.
